Waterlogged
Exhale the last of your sanity,
breathing in the darkness that surrounds
as light fades into the blackening sky
currents rip you from side to side
the pressure of the waves crushing you
you're desperately struggling to hold in air
all while sinking further
down
and down
into the bottomless abyss you nearly escaped
but the shadows of the deep keep their grip
like seaweed, tangled around both ankles
pulling you down into the endless ocean
you wear a smile for all to see
but what they don't know is
you've forgotten how to swim
and so you watch everyone breathe
While you choke on water and silently drown
