each leg skinnier than the last,
a length of twine unwittingly overcast,
a flamboyant whisper, the unheard shout
uneasiness permeating swiftly throughout
weakness glorified, confidence shattered
the goal of life remains to be flattered
broken mirror taped at the seams
eyes that have lost their childlike gleam
heartless caring, careless love,
corruptness is now a sign from above.


The author's comments:
I surprised myself with the rhymes, because I feel rhyming makes the poem a gazillion times more juvenile, but this was a conscious decision- I'm hoping it can be interpretted ironically
