"To Fear Death, is to limit life."

A young boy who sees more than in front of him
His birthright of curiousity will carry him through
Opening his eyes he will foresee his own win
And he leaves behind his home he once knew

It started with a fight and a trembling heart
Unsure of his decisions, he competed with self
His fate won the debate of his start
And finish he will, without his memories on a shelf.

He sets out into the world, wild and free
With many flaws of confusion and mistrust
But see through he will in a land of liberty
And reject the corruption of power and lust

A detour he takes and gets caught in a bind
Puzzled is he with a time of reaction
Nature gives aid to the gifts of his mind
And his road skidmarked with the grotesque, bloody traction

He lives on to feel what it’s like to be cold
To freeze a mere second and to focus the sight
His eyes are dialated with a darkness so bold
And so it begins to corrupt his very might

On and on, he can see a future of hope
Illusions of fear and greed will have him be blind
To the very light that salvation can cope
And a fate he must finish and a path he must unwind

Days bleed into night and the moon settles the night
Out come the shadows of his thoughts and his dreams
Surrounded by the pieces of hate glowing bright
And everything he knows is not as it seems

Conquering his demons, he awakens from the dark
Funneling back into his mind, is the reality of peace
He moves forward on the path and to make his own mark
And seize the days ahead to himself he can please

Fully matured and ending his growth
He learned a lot from the path he called time
He gives what he took and upon younger ones he bestows
His own knowledge of overcoming the sublime

Older he gets, but he shall remain
True to himself and sincere to his world
His ultimate lesson is nothing stays the same
And that he passes on to others in the whirl

Death he defied many times to count
But as time goes on, he must passover and stop
For death is just another path he must mount
And he will be remembered as the one who rose on top

In the afterlife, he hears the voice
Of an almighty tone and legendary measures
“Go In Peace and continue to learn,” says the noise
And on he lingered with knowledge his ultimate treasure.

What inspired me to write this free verse story, is the common productivity of survival. The common story of a person trying to make the most of their life. Whether it would be thrill-seeking, or just working to live.
