I was taught to respect my elders.
To sit quiet as they yelled,
and nod quietly.

I was tired of being lectured,
I already knew what I was doing wrong.
I wasn't going to change for them.

“Do you have anything to say for yourself, young lady?”
I paused.
I did, but should I say anything?

“Yes, yes I do.”
