Dismembered Illusions MAG
beauty is in the unrecognized,
illusions built up in heads only to be
swept away under the carpet when
the concept of reality is remembered,
crushed like an empty can, carelessly
tossed aside:
the dreams that fill its place –
practical, yet self-loathing and contradictory
by its very definition, reminiscent of
the beauty found in a dandelion
carefully discarded after a child has blown
her wishes across the yellowing grass.
it is the abandoned bottle cap
littering the otherwise meticulous pavement
that we see ourselves most in,
and just as before our eyes it is transformed
into a castaway treasure,
it is the opposite that i find most beautiful:
the gleam of life in the eyes of one inversely symmetrical
who realizes it is the overlap of common plaid
that makes it the most beautiful.
