Beauty is skin deep
Is camouflage for the coy and
Defense for the defenseless,
A mask for the melancholy
Cruel twisted sorrows told by the world,
Leave behind bitter-sweet scars, so cunning and callous
Disguised by melodious make-up, so phony and fake
Scared of being noticed, too afraid of being off-beat
But, skin grows and learns
It heals and scabs
Constantly changing, always unique;
Embrace it
