Kindred Spirits
The soft rays of the moon highlight the shadows
That became your limbs as you danced;
I watch you from the spot
of my pleading immobility
Your music
is the laughter of my soul.
There are intertwining vines existing beyond the confinements of time and space.
They continue to hold the trees together
That are us
The words pour out of your eyes with no need for speech
Because a voice would shatter the silence that is screaming with joy.
She watches you too, and smiles down at you
She knows she will soon be gone; whisked away with the break of dawn
So she extends her light to wrap you in a cloak
A cloak weaved from promises and memories
A cloak that cannot be unraveled by the vastness of the earth.
I join you under the cloak.
The vines fall away, as they are now unnecessary.
Your spirit begins to sing
And it blends with mine harmoniously
She smiles down at you again, as well as me this time.
She knows her time is up and lets the morning light take her,
Leaving only the whisper of her beams to tickle our cheeks
The cloak is warm
And I know under it with you I’m safe
And I know under it with you,
We are infinite.
