Homeless
If you would ask me
Where I was from
I would think a second
Before actually answering you.
My parents are American
I am white
But growing up in Asia
Is all of my life
My inside is Taiwanese
My outside is Caucasian
People stare at me in streets
Because I’m not Asian
I love to eat seaweed
And I love to eat cheese
But every person I meet on the street
Is completely shocked that I speak Chinese
I’m culture shocked with my skin
But rejected in my home
People ask to take pictures with me
Because of my skintone
My genes are homeless
Inside my home
Many ask
Where I am from
I have to say
I have two homes not one
One for my skin
And one for my heart
Take either one
And you tear me apart.
