The Skeleton in the Room
They were too enthusiastic

 Their hands always shook

And my nails scratched at theirs

 So they only saw claws

 They didn’t see the elephant

Or the skeleton in the room

 That danced around manically

 And smelled like lemon perfume

 Because they weren’t there

 And neither was I

 I was home

 All alone

 With water to spare

 And other places to go

 I really don’t care

 I started tapping my fingers

 But no one heard it

 They’re all out dancing around

 Leaving me submerged

With just an elephant to keep me alive
