New By Me
I was five first day of kindergarten
I was new, Kids liked me
They didn’t make fun of me
Or push me
First day of First grade
I was old, They didn’t like me
They made fun of me
They pushed me
Fourth grade a girl came to our class
She was new
They loved her
But I was the only one who knew her
She wasn’t new
She was a old friend
That left me in the dust
One car accident
A whole summer in the hospital
New face
New name
New family
She got into a car accident
When her dad tried to kill her
So foster parents adopted her
Gave her a new face
A new name
Instead of looking just like me
Now she looked just like one of them
I was fourteen
I was “sick”
I was new at the hospital
They loved me
I’m not supposed to say who was their
But she wasn’t new to me
First day of high school
We were both old
We both had our scars
They forgot about her
And she never left
I always knew her
And she always knew me
We maybe old to them
But everyday we see each other
It’s like looking for a new friend
