Poetry
To some it is simple,
Just write your heart on a page.
To others it’s frightening,
Like forgetting your lines on stage.
There’s so much more to it
Than you might think.
Poetry is equations, patterns, feelings,
And rhyming like N’Sync.
Countless different kinds of poems.
From sestina to rispetto to etheree.
Endless different rhyme combinations.
From a-a-b-b-a to AabB CcB.
Poetry isn’t like math, however.
There’s no magic formula or trick.
It’s got to come from your heart.
And if you’re lucky, you’ll get the hang of it quick.
