The Stormy Dream
My life flashes before my eyes like lightning
The wind carries the voices of the memories
traveling through one ear and out the other
The storm grows
the wind picks up
the once soothing voices start to scream and jumble up
like the 3 o’clock traffic
The memories start to fade
I try my hardest to keep them there, longer
this is my retreat, my world with no distractions
I know this feeling, I am waking up
This dream is coming to an end
My wonderful childhood memories
quickly going just as fast as they came
I have to let it go, return to reality
Where there are people waiting
waiting for me to make new memories
New relationships, new friends
To seek a new adventure
To see more than expected
But here, it is no longer my retreat
It is my past
I must let it go
