Some people feel the rain, others just get wet.

Love is not given
But thoroughly taken away
Leaving those broken
Without a word to say

Nothing to feel
Nothing to lose
Nothing but a lonesome girl
With so much to prove

So much unsaid
But who the hell cares?
Just a young heart drowning
Living in a world of despair

No attention is paid
Lonesome she stays
She cries at night
Befriending a blade

Comfort she finds
In a color so crimson
With every breath she wants more
More blood is her mission

One cut too deep
One funeral later
The lonesome girl
Is the talk of the paper

Lonesome she is not
All attention is now paid
Every soul now cares
Because of the young girl's mistake

The author's comments:
When I wrote this poem I became very emotional. Growing up as a child always watching the news I noticed a trend. Every now and then there would be stories on a teen who had committed suicide. This always bugged me because I knew they could have been saved. They reached out for help, some many times, but they didn't get the recognition they hoped for. No attention was paid. Their cries for help had been ignored, or innocently looked past. Maybe it was a dysfunctional family to blame. Maybe it was bullying. Whatever the cause may be they began to get deeper and deeper into their depression and soon later they took their own life. What irritates me is they get so much exposure after their deaths. Everyone talks and word goes around about the young life lost. Everyone begins to care.. when they should have cared when they were alive. They should have helped them when they were crying out for someone to listen. But everyone looked past them. People have become so self absorbed. They only pay attention once a tragedy occurs. But what sickens me most is the tragedy could have been prevented.
