i've lost myself

time is slipping between my
fingers
just out of reach
and i am slowly fading
into an awfully dreary
shade of grey
every bruised knee
and twisted ankle
that led me to this day
means nothing
because pills taste like candy
and shrivel up my mind
i can no longer remember
who i used to be
i am shaking hands with death
and he seems quite fond
of the monster
i've made of myself
