"If you don't want to be forgotten, shortly after you are dead and rotten, either do something worth writing, or write something worth reading."
~Benjamin Franklin

"You won't get hooked,"
"You're too strong,"
The voice dominating my thoughts.
"It's a one-time thing,"
"You'll know when to quit,"
Trying to win me over.
"Something's got to change,"
"You look terrible,"
Shaking, I acknowledge that truth.
"How bad can it really be?"
"It works, you've seen others succeed."
Numbly I'm driven to the bathroom,
And met with tear-stung eyes and pain.
I stop immediately.
If I'm not strong enough to start,
How could I be strong enough to quit?
But the eyes of the lying glass glare,
Its voice returns, louder still.
"Quit being a coward."
"Don't you want to be pretty?"
Desperately, but-
"Then DO IT."
No, I cannot.
"You won't get hooked,"
"You're too strong."
But I'm not strong at all.
