impulse
Raging like an ocean, a hurricane within
The human race brimming with emotion on a whim
Acting on an impulse, thinking thoughts like fire
Burn the heart, ice the tongue, smoking thick desire
We love we hate we breathe we think we know it all
We drink we talk we feel we kiss and then we jump and fall
 Halfway through the nothingness
 Almost to the dark abyss

 We wish we would’ve stayed

We climb we grope we look for hope, nothing is the same
A word can trigger pain so deep it almost cuts the flesh
In a melody, a memory that smells like sweet success
A flashing fist cut to the throat
Cuts off the words you would have spoke
The clock’s face burns your eyes
 Its metal hands wave good-bye
What is this pounding in the chest?
Flows through the veins, it does not rest
Professionals call it a pulse; it ups and down and sometimes stops
And when it does we no longer feel
The impulsiveness that made us real
