Ares’ Sword
I felt his grip tighten as the sky began to brighten,
Another day had dawned during the war down below,
My master gazed down at the land to see the men
Running like a pack of deer in a hunt,
Angry- he whipped me through the air,
Whoosh, whoosh, I cut the air without a care,
Ares was a teacher watching students fail,
His side of the war saw arrows rain like hail,
I trembled as the thought occurred to me
Of being drawn by brother against sister,
Athena walked towards us now in an air of victory,
For she had won while we were shunned in misery,
Master placed me where the ground and wall met,
And painfully accepted his loss with much regret.
