Sweet Guilt
I have a secret stash of chocolate in my room
Like the sweet guilt that lies in the corners of my soul
No one would guess of my surrender to decadence
This small luxury defying my otherwise strict self-control
Craving eventually clouds judgement
Sometimes it feels good to let go
Reason eclipsed by appetite
For a while gives one’s insides a glow
Until reality opens the door
And sheds light on the perils of such succumbing
Embarrassment, even for so paltry a crime
Certainly keeps life humbling
These pieces of myself I would rather keep in the dark
Where no one else can see
They serve as a reminder of my weakness
My human frailty
