Where I'm From
I was from the bottom.
From the place I thought I’d always lurk,
And the place I thought I’d always remain.
I was from the bottom.
From the baby of the family,
And the attention seeker that stumbled into everybody’s way.
I was from the bottom.
From the breaks, bruises, and blistering feet,
And the agonizing hard work that never seemed to pay off.
I am from the middle.
From invisibly cruising the obnoxious halls,
And being just as fake as my fake friends around me.
I am from the middle.
From the river created in my lonely room at night,
And the award winning actress fooling people day by day.
I am from the middle.
From more breaks, bruises, and blistering feet,
And the agonizing hard work still not paying off.
I will be from the top.
From the firework finally ready to burst out of it’s chamber,
And enter the vast universe that has been waiting for me all along.
I will be from the top.
From the highest mountain peak,
And breathing in the sweet smell of victory.
I will be from the top.
From embracing who I used to be,
And learning from the irreversible mistakes that I’ve made.
I came from the bottom.
From the bottom to the middle,
And the middle to the top, to create who I am today.
