How can one stay inside
and stay asleep in bed
with the sun playing
with my face

and laughing at me
with its infectious laughter
as its sunlight splays across the
shadowy walls of our basement home?

Innocent waking ups happens
for the arising, unaware sunrises
as today begins with a living energy
and rises with the rooster this morning.

Now thawed gold fades into
the color of aqueous cerulean,
but tiny bits of golden pixie dust
still warm us to the end of our toes

as it float all around us,
reminding me that the world
is made of faith, trust and pixie dust;
a reminder from Peter Pan and Tinker Bell.

(cock-a-doodle-doo)

Written on February 15th, 2015 when I woke up and thought of Pter Pan and Tinker Bell, haha.

I'll always be a child, a child who's still learning how to be a child and a child at heart.

Thank you for taking the time read this if you are. :)

Really, really beautiful imagery, Emily!! I love your word choice too :) My favorite stanza was the fourth one...it had just phenomenal imagery...I loved it haha :) "thawed gold" and "tiny bits of golden pixie dust"...It's like you took the sunlight and gave it life :)

Sunshine is beautiful. Your comment means so much to me, @Beila. Thank you. It means absolutely, a lot. Also, I never thought of it that way, but I like how you thought of that. I think it's both, intentionally ambiguous. :) I apologize again for replying back late. Thank you again, my friend! :)

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." -Mark Twain

I love sunshine so much, and this poem is just the most beautiful representation of how important the sun is to happiness. Like the world when the sun is shining, your poem seemed to be made with faith, trust, and pixie dust. The connection to the fantastical childhood of living Never Neverland was the perfect touch at the end. I have to ask: Is that onomatopoeia Peter's triumphant crow, the rooster's declaration of the break of dawn, or intentionally ambiguous?
