seasons of You
when I first saw you
the leaves were still green,
there was only the slightest chill of Autumn
in the air.
our eyes met in the soft sparkle of sunshine
and as the leaves fell so did I,
for You.
the bare tree branches
cast shadows on your face.
when the birds no longer sung
I was engulfed in
Your Melody.
as the snowflakes fell in a frosty breeze
I was kept safe in your gentle embrace.
whispering soft words of love
and promises.
your large rough hands carefully entwined with mine.
and in absence the pressure
of your lips remained.
I desired nothing more than to feel that warmth
Forever and Forever.
but as the flakes flurried faster,
like lemons we soured.
in an instant you let go of me,
but your hold needs no touch.
with week slippery fingers
I held to the edge
of the highest cliff
that is You.
as I finally slip I welcome the fall.
the impact leaves me broken
unable to regain my footing.
so I lay and await
the green, buds, and bloom.
and with the return of the warmth
I hope there will come
the return of
You.
