Raising a Voice
  My voice is fading,
But you'll never see me there wavering.
I'll stand on top of this 'city upon a hill,'
I'll do what I can, and I'll exercise this free will.
  I want my voice heard,
But I know how things slowly slur.
I want to pronounce certain change,
Even though others will look at me, strange.
I want to be all that I can be,
  Maybe even more.
Don't limit the growth of this sprouting tree,
Not when it's roots define it's core.
