Sometimes
balloons are like feelings
they float upwards
sometimes,
they make us feel like we’re floating too
up
up
up
and sometimes,
we get one that’s really nice
and we try to tie it to our wrists
because we want to keep it
but sometimes,
we make a mistake
and it’s gone
and it just sort of flies away
sometimes,
you don’t have any
you don’t have
that little burst of color
that tiny bubble of life
that we desperately need
sometimes,
we want to keep some
for a long time
for however long forever is
but forever’s a really long time
so we can’t
it’s impossible
and they sink
they fall
down
down
down
and
we
do
too
