Our Own Minds
It’s in our own minds that we fight
Godawful battles
To have cigarettes light
And Darkness at Night.
We sing to ourselves
And dance under the Moon
Hearing books upon shelves
Killing ourselves.
The beaten will fall
And die before us
After a torturing call
Filling a hall.
When the rain isn’t rain
Yet beats down from clouds
Like liquid pain
Keeping some of us sane.
While some turn to kill
Letting the blood spill
And cries so shrill
Giving them a thrill.
In our own mind
We fight
The enemy never kind
With no light to shine.
We’re in the fast lane
Things that are good in life
Except no one is there to drain
Most of our pain.
So we crash and burn
Leaving things unlearned
And Love to yearn
