Unstoppable Team
Together, we were an unstoppable team
with a special connection that takes forever to build
but a split-second to break—
Like a coffee cup smashing to the floor,
Once broken, forever broken.
I was turning into an instigator.
Everything she said, I turned into an argument.
Literally, it would be the littlest thing,
and I would take those broken bits of our friendship
and kick them further across the room.
I told myself I did not need her in my life.
I convinced myself to hate her.
I pretty much brainwashed myself
that I hated everything about her.
So both went our ways.
But now, trying to put those pieces back together
is not as easy as it seems—
The pieces just don’t fit the way they used to.
I realize that I smashed up a friendship
that one could only dream of.
