The famous Des Pond, what a site to see
With sparkling clear water, twinkling with glee
Those who came across it were joyful
At this little outlet of the sea
But time continued on, and storms they did brew
And the famous Des Pond, did not stay so blue
Those who came across it frowned
And found another route
But the troubles did not subside, and soon enough the tide
Of the famous Des Pond, became stagnant and then was gone
Those who came across it stumbled
Became caught in the murky trench
And a new namesake resulted
The Slough of Despond
Where nothing joyful went.
