At sixteen years old I was given the plague
A modern certificate of this new age
From the doctor’s questions I answered yes
With Psychotic Disorder NOS
They told me nothing I could understand
A problem I smelled again and again
From fighting and yelling my parents did
To all the delusions I had hid
Behind failing grades and loss of life
I had to live an unpleasant, lowlife
Fears and tears of what I’ve become
Knowing now that this is the sum
Of a distorted way I have lived
Being lucky that I have outlived
A curse of the past with no medic
For I am no longer
a schizophrenic.
