Princess in Fire
If only what we all wished were true,
That bright young someones could always
“Think their way out” of things.
The fire in me rages,
Burning through pages.
If only they knew
The painted princess doll
Scorched by the flames
Of this desire
I cannot extinguish, as
It can light another Platonic torch
To escape the shadows and cave,
But when left alone
Tells my mind to wander
Into the wilderness
Where fire will burn
And barriers will dissolve into the earth...
My mind cannot think itself out of “out”
Instead it wants to think inside and into
That castle and sore royalty I wish to abandon
But is where my fire can belong
Yet I fear to thrive in.

I was given a middle name meaning "Princess" in hopes I would be kind and sweet, a precious little pearl. How wrong!
