Just Me
Me
I am human
I am not a stone statue
Aloof on top of a high mountain
Dictating the choices made below
Dictating the people below
I am human
I am not porcelain
Fine china on top a high shelf
To be admired and adored
Gazed upon in its beauty
But never felt never used
I am human
I am not a genius
A scientist in her own mind
To busy solving world problems for
Friends
Or family
Or love
I am human
I am not a court jester
Here for their amusement
“Always there for a laugh”
I am not dumb
I am human
I make mistakes (a lot)
I pronounce Catsup Catchup
And aloe aw-low
And can’t use chopsticks (at all)
I am not perfect
I am not all one thing
Yet they see me as what they want to see
A ruler
Glass
A genius
A goof
Yet they never see me as I really am
I am human
