Addiction
He has no job
sucking money from his girlfriend
unable to support his kids,
he didn’t care.
The craving in his body created an animal.
Desire ached in his body.
If he did feed the animal inside him,
the animal took over.
His vision blurred,
he couldn’t control.
After a while,
all he sees in black.
The next gloomy morning,
his memories are faded
bottles of liquor litter the house.
He never knows when to quit,
loves the feeling of the bottle rising to his lips,
the warm liquid draining into his throat.
He just repeats his habits
until the beat the keeps him breathing
takes its
last
beat.
