Captivating beach
I lay down and wonder,
the sand holding me tight.
The beating rays of the sun,
capturing my light.
I ask my mother to play in the ocean,
but the answer is no.
The wonder of a child,
laying on the sand, captivated ,
by the other land.
She cries out to her mother,
asks to go into the water.
Mother says yes.
One step in,
another
till her feet don't touch the ground.
The deep cold water
inprisioning the body,
salt covering the visible light.
The child in the water,
captivated,
by the sand she used to lay in
and the suns beating rays.
