The Lord of the Land -Wonder of the World
Ivory and gold fill the 43 foot statue,
Time being the only factor to follow completion.
The statue grows from a child to a man.
Shapeless pieces form an golden god.
The Roman Emperor fills with greed and jealousy,
Roman men follow a journey capturing the statue.
With failure and dissatisfaction,
the Emperor breathes no more.
The twelve years of creation falls into nothing,
Sorrowful flames destroy the statue.
Only petite pieces remain . . . left behind . . .
We remember it before the flames.
1500 years later,
Teuton come across where the god once sat.
Not much remnant,
Except for a fraction of his head.
Although once destroyed,
The statue lives on.
Not all that once lived,
Will die forever.
