The Aftermath
One day later
there are tears in her eyes
her vision begins to blur
as she starts to cry
it starts as a sniffle
quickly turning into a sob
as she thinks of the innocence
of which she has been robbed
One week later
there are bags under her eyes
from the ability to sleep
that she has been denied
she's locked up all her mirrors
and from everyone
she tries to hide her fears
the secrets have begun
One month later
there are cuts on her skin
it's the only way she can think of
to control the pain she's in
she's barely eaten in weeks
and her mind dwells over
the deafening screams of "FREAK!"
One year later
she looks out at the moon
and she thinks to herself
it'll all be over soon
she writes a note explaining why
she writes about her scars
the scars she tried to hide
the light has long since left her eyes
she ties the rope around her neck
and breathes her final breath,
"Goodbye."
