Where I’m From
I’m from the first sip of hot tea,
The first of the 4 sips there is left.
From the dusty, but strangely delightful town,
To the richest county in America.
When the bar across the street started to yell,
The window sill crowded, watching the commotion.
Now, the kids on the street, playing until sunrise,
Leaving the window sills now empty.
The sweet sweet smell of homemade rice pudding
Brings everyone to the couch to laugh and make memories.
Looking back, the tears shed on my last day in Jersey,
Totally regret them.
Life here is serene.
The screams polluted into the air when the Giants score a touchdown,
And the barks of Riley departing through the window.
I’m from the insane, loud and chaotic family that star on reality tv shows,
But, I love it.
