It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.
~Hugh Laurie

The world weighs me down. Homework and schoolwork and hard work and boring work. All of it piles up on my shoulders, and I feel trapped. I need to get out.

I go to the one place where I can shrug it off, leave it on the sidelines. I change from my usual jeans and tee shirt into a leotard and tights. The room is wide open, with nothing obstructing the floor.

There are speakers surrounding the room, and I connect them to my iPod. The first notes trickle out, and I fly. No one can stop me now. Not until the songs are all gone, and I am too tired to carry on.

The work still waits for me, not gone, but I dance, and for a few fleeting moments,

I

am

free.
