Goodbye, Dreamer Child
My dreams of whimsy
And travels across seas
Are just that-
Dreams.
I reach out towards them,
Hoping to curl myself
Into this fantasy land
With campfires
And walking across a country,
But each morning I wake
To the taste of ash in my mouth
As the dream burns away
And I must face reality
In all its blind glory.
Goodbye dreamer child,
And wishes on stars-
It’s time to grow up and grow old
And leave my dreams behind.
