This Ocean
This ocean,
Was at a time a beautiful thing to swim in,
A place where one could feel calm,
And at peace,
A place where one could forget all those miseries,
And lie in serenity,
But in between everything,
Something went wrong,
Terribly wrong,
And the ocean was polluted with fears,
With loss and shattered dreams,
It screamed for it to stop,
It stung deeply and once you step inside,
There’s no coming out,
As it shallows you whole,
And you drown within,
This ocean became deserted,
It became despised and hated,
So it decided to end its life,
And asked the sun to dry it up whole,
And asked the rain to stop,
Feeding it with raindrops,
But those deep dark waters,
Became light with the warmth of the sun,
And the fresh droplets of rain,
Dissolved the pain,
And do you know dear,
The ocean became beautiful again.

I always thought of oceans as quite beautiful aspects of nature, and I felt like they have their own story. I felt inspired by stories of recovery from teens who battled mental illnesses or immense amounts of sadness. I hope to show people from my poem that one should never lose hope, even in dire situations, and that things do get better even if one doesn't know it at the time. Even if everything is going against you, or you feel helpless, things do change.
