The American Dream
The American Dream, it seems, comprised of infantries laid to sleep,
hand in hand,
bullet in cheek.
The American Dream, it seems, held together with stitches of sacrifice,
knitted with bones and ammo,
a quilt of uniformity.
The American Dream, it seems, purple hearts beating in unison,
war cries tangled in the melody,
an orchestra of gunshots.
The American Dream, it seems, a promise written with obelisks,
ink one-part blood, one-part sacrifice,
signed largely the name freedom.
