bubbles
she ran into me, skipping along
was she barefoot? she always is when it rains
it’s her way of letting water lead her naked way
we ran
bouncing like shirley temple cherries, breath popping like bubbles
then we walked,
letting our words mix sugar with the black night sky
we met up with our friend Moment
who isn’t fond of History because he never remembers her name
so we smiled and promised her that
the rain
and our bare feet
would never forget her.
