God Complex
I could say I’d form the Earth
into what we all want:
happiness,
peace,
equality.
I could write about everyone,
every single human being,
holding hands, uniting,
because of how my godly powers
forced them to cooperate.
It’s not the truth.
We, as a species,
no matter how grand we claim to be, are
small,
viscious,
territorial.
Being a God must be like
watching over an ant farm,
looking down and seeing
their unconscious teamwork,
slowly tearing away
at the glass that keeps them safe.
If a God patches a hole,
another appears.
The endless cycle,
separated into steps:
locate
repair
repeat.
There is no end to the madness.
Humans will destroy,
waiting for their problems
to magically vanish,
waiting for a messiah
who doesn’t exist.
If I were god, I would
quit
quit
quit.
