Fences
Morning
Out once again in the white snow
I’m starving, slowed, staggering through the streets
looking for my next meal as the day before
My choices led me to here
I peer through the gated house on my walk
A couple makes breakfast
bacon, eggs, toast, making my mouth salivate
My choices led me to here
I dreamed of their life for years
My stomach pulls me to their fence every morning
security, safety, love. A life I can no longer have
My choices led me to here
Night
Red and blue, have followed me for years
My bad decisions have kept them close behind me
like a dark shadow looming
My choices led me to here
Red and blue, they have followed me once more tonight
I needed the cash to eat tontie
the cashier did not need to live
My choices led me to here
Red and blue, they seem to have left
I can stop by the fences to look once more
friday is steak night, and I can almost taste it
My choices led me to here
Red and blue, they found me by the fences
A quick turn results in a bullet through my skull
last thoughts looking at my soulmates perfect meal
Whose fences I have peered through for years
Death takes me away from all the mistakes I have made
My choices led me to here
