From The Stands
Have you ever heard
Music
In your life
More powerful
Than the way a drumline,
Every show,
Loud and fast,
Booming towards the audience
And into the ears,
The minds,
And the bodies
Of those listening.
Out from behind the sound of horns,
Every show,
The grinding of kevlar,
The splintering of wood,
Against a drum.
Such a powerful sound-
That fills you, as it runs
Through every part,
Shaking your insides.
As you listen,
You have to wonder,
Can I break away from the power,
Or will I have to
Just finish watching?
