June.
Review packets and worksheets:
My binder was never heavier.
After hours, I check my work
And can only hope the answers
Are right.
Teachers collect these papers
And then we all sit down for
Hours and hours of last tests,
I only hope nobody drowns
In facts.
Textbooks are brought back
From dusty desks and shelves
At home, and you have to pay
If this collection of pages doesn’t
Resurface.
One final walk through the halls.
After that, we leave. The building
Is empty and its rooms dark.
Worn down by another long
Year.
