Tell Me How
Please tell me how someone so young
Could be taken out of our hands
How a life could be snatched away
How could someone so young be unable to stay
When life is supposed to be long
 You stood so tall
And would bring laughter to us all
 You loved the simple things
 So quiet
 So sweet
This must just be a dream
A community coming apart at the seams
I want to believe in a perfect world
Where death does not plague us
But there is no peace to trust
 Someone so young and pure
 Didn’t deserve the merciless accident
 That came at dusk
 Our friendship will never rust
There’s faith in the best of us
 But there's pain and grief
I will never be able to sleep
 I want to weep
 I can't eat
 Or think
 I miss you, Alex

I wrote this the day I found out my friend Alex got in the car accident that would claim his life. I had just found out from my Spanish teacher that his parents were taking him off life support. After the news had settled in, I wrote this to get the pain out of me a little bit
