Two Hearts
Is it wrong?
Is it wrong,
If my heart beats
For two loves?
Is it wrong,
That my desires
Are made whole
By two doves?
Is it wrong,
That in one my intelligence
Is satisfied and in her
My reason flowers?
Is it wrong,
That in the other
My emotions are elevated,
Ranging from sunlight to showers?
Is it wrong,
That my heart is divided,
No longer in my will,
Longing to be complete?
Is it wrong,
That in me beat two hearts,
As they attempt to dominate one another,
The power of my mind obsolete?
Is it wrong?
And yet, I see the shadows
Of sacrifice.
On must be lost.
Is it wrong,
That my heart refuses to choose,
Separated in itself like
Sun and Moon?
Is it wrong,
That my heart longs for
The Daughter of Rome
And the Daughter of the West?
And two hearts beat in me,
Two souls long in me,
Two minds ponder in me,
Two wills fight in me.

This poem was inspired by a conflict I head when I liked two different girls, and I was hard-pressed to choose one over the other.
