My Home
I am from a white one story home and a broken basketball hoop in the front yard that will never surpass 6 feet.
I am from a house full of intensity and competitiveness, all of which is taken in good fun.
I am from asphalt driveways, cornfields across the street, and woods behind the house.
I am from loud, encouraging voices and the constant checking of the newest sports news.
From Rich and Julie, who learned how to raise us from the previous generations.
From “hard work is the only way” and “ college education is a must”.
I am from where a majority of the faith is put into family and hard work.
From the Grandmother who always provided, and the Grandfather who served for the militia.
I am from all of these things, and many more.
That began, where I’m from.

I did this writing piece for a school assignment in my english class. I chose to write my poem about my home because it made me think of what my home is actually like. My hope is that when other read my poem they wonder about there own lives at home.
