By Night She Writes
The screams started to fill her mind,
As she began to cry,
Wishing that she could leave these thoughts behind,
But she still does not wish to die,
One earbud in each ear,
Hoping to find a little bit of hope,
Her eyes drowning in her own tears,
Music is her way to cope,
The paper still lies on her lap,
The pencil in her palm,
She can not fall asleep though she wishes she could nap,
So she writes and writes hoping soon her thoughts will calm,
Every scream that fills her mind now lies on this paper,
She’ll write every thought she wants to give away,
Every night writing saves her,
Writing is her way to stay,
A book held loosely in her hand,
She reads with a dying flashlight,
Now living in a different land,
She reads every day and night,
After reading one line she wishes she had never left,
The passages fixed her heart like tape,
Now she’s done with the book but it feels like she lost her heart ot theft,
Reading was one of her only escapes,
Now she feels like there is no way,
She finished the playlist of her songs,
Now she doesn’t wish to stay,
She feels like everything is wrong,
Finished her writing,
Finished her book,
Now her favorite lines she’s reciting,
She is in pain if you would only look,
But she will replay one more song,
She will rewrite one more line,
Re-read each book until nothing feels wrong,
But she wishes she just had more time,
Trying not to do what she knows she may regret,
Trying to throw away her thoughts,
She feels like now her mind is set,
But she’ll hold on to see if there is one more life lesson she needs to be taught,
So if one day she doesn’t speak,
Remember she hides her mind from the world,
But if one day her secrets leak,
Remember you’re probably one of the only ones she’s ever told,
Don’t remind her that she is okay,
Because she really can’t agree,
Just remind her that you’ll never go away,
Just remind her that you’ll always help her see,
