One Day
  give me those freckles,
glazing your pale skin, like your kisses on my face
  give me those lips,
torn and bloody from the anxiety-ridden antics of your own brain
  give me those smiles,
  all too friendly and forgiving
something i could only hope is for me
  give me that strength,
blinking back tears behind ill-fitting glasses
  give me your love,
and i promise that one day i will utter the sacred words myself

  but until those days,
  we open the door
and shed light on the cobwebs in our closets
and you are just another friend
  to me.
