Marching Band
Fall Season starts eight months in advance,
The excitement rises in the air
As I await the unveiling of the theme
My body will soon breathe and bleed
  The blistering sun,
  As time crawls along
  Exhausted and sweaty
With the thoughts of giving up
  My team rises me higher,
Cause they know that it’ll be worth it
Parents cheering and supporting from the sides
Day after day working towards the finish line.
  The blood, sweat, and tears
  That my friends and I
  Have put into this
Is finally about to show its worth
For seven minutes my whole world stops
  But at the same time
  In those seven minutes
My life has never felt more alive
  The gold medal and celebration
That I have desired since day one
  Minutes from tears of joy
So close to grasping the reward I deserve.

I am a senior and captain of my high school's color guard. A lot of people who aren't in the band with me tend to underestimate the amount of effort we actually put in a show. I just wanted to show others how my friends and I feel when we are practicing and performing on field.
