The Cycle of Death
As the sun meets the sea,
The fish swim.
As the water hits the shore,
The fish swim.
When all seems lost,
And hope is gone,
Still, the fish will swim.
Always moving,
They cannot stop.
They cannot leave
Their steady rhythm,
One misstep,
They will be dead,
Our fishing lines ensnare them.
The smell invites them,
Worm on the end of a pole.
Would you still eat them,
Thinking of the life you stole?
Quickly forgotten,
cycle unbroken,
Now they have died,
Without a reason,
What is the point of it all?
